CO2 and taxes....read this...it probably affects you

I have reposted this from a thread I started on CCCUK.com corvette site .

This will be of concern to all drivers....but very much so to Ameraican car drivers.

There is a link to adding your name to a petition to stop the Budgets decision to increase the vehicle tax bands on vehicles RETROSPECTIVELY BACK TO 2001

Your name on this petition may help stop this sneak tax

I believe that the latest budget now means that the groups will go way beyond F and G next year. Many group F cars will fall into group M. This is being applied retrospectively to cars registered since 2001 - so people who have owned their car for 7 years will now be getting hammered, not just those who have bought a new car after the budget.

For example, if you have a 2003 C5, it's currently in group F. This is currently £210 per year.

Next year it will be grouped in band 'M' and will cost £440 for 12 months road tax.

Great eh?

This link should explain:

There's a petition to try and get the govt to overturn the retrospective part of these changes. Link here:

I think there's a fairly lengthy thread on Pistonheads about al this too, but it's bad news to say the least.
